Two Champions Cross the Atlantic
For the first time ever, two of America's most decorated racing corgis have booked their flights to Vilnius. This is really happening.
First up: Mr. Corgington, a five-year-old Pembroke from Palm Springs, California, famous for his flat-out speed and his signature tongue-out finish. Nine career wins, sixteen podiums, and a runner-up finish at the Emerald Downs final – second out of 175 dogs, beaten by mere inches.
Then there's Gustave – yes, a girl named Gustave, "GG" to her friends. A two-time University of Washington Spring Football Game champion and two-time Emerald Downs champion, she's a self-described "emo corgi" who lives to run, fuelled entirely by baby carrots. Vilnius is her first-ever international trip.
Here's the twist: that final where Corgington finished runner-up runs at Emerald Downs – where Gustave has taken the crown twice. We are flying in the champion and the runner-up on the very same weekend.
