June 4 · Town Hall Square, Vilnius

World Corgi Day

Every year on June 4, corgi lovers around the world celebrate the breed. Since 2026, Vilnius celebrates it both in the city and on screen: a corgi march through the Old Town, three contests on Town Hall Square and a video call connecting corgi communities on every continent of the world.

The Corgi March

At 17:30 the first corgi march in Vilnius set off from the Gate of Dawn to Town Hall Square. For people it is a short walk through the Old Town. For a corgi it is a proper city expedition, with every rest stop fully justified.

Three contests on Town Hall Square

That evening Town Hall Square turned into a little Vingis Park: green turf, barriers and three contests, one of them open to dogs of every breed.

Sprint duels. One on one, lane against lane, with the crowd pressed against the barriers on both sides.

Run Return. The contest premiered here, two months before its August debut in Vingis Park. Two corgis run to the finish and then back to their owners. Getting there is easy. Coming back is the hard part.

Smartest Nose. One minute, a puzzle full of hidden treats, and every breed welcome.

World Corgi Zoom-ies

At 19:00 Town Hall Square went live to the world. The call opened with a shared moment: everyone switched their cameras on at once, and the screen was meant to show corgis only, no humans. Then the communities spoke in turn: the night owls of Asia and Oceania first, then the Americas, with Europe last. For some it was past midnight: in Japan and Hong Kong people stayed up to join, in Australia they joined in the early hours.

Lord Russell Barkson from Bathurst, Australia had just turned three. The Toronto Corgi Duo, Penny and Polo, came in themed outfits with Tim Hortons treats. Cecilia from Vancouver introduced Cream, a rescue corgi from Korea. The Munich Corgi Gang joined as a whole pack, and Freyya from Shymkent, Kazakhstan hopped in at the last minute as a lovely surprise.

It was the first meeting of its kind and the first step towards a World Corgi Club, with its roots in Vilnius. Joining us were:
