Dachshund Dash
On February 14 we invited every dog and animal lover to our first smaller-format side event, Dachshund Dash 2026. Good vibes, laughter and love in the air were guaranteed.
Why dachshunds?
Corgis and dachshunds never worked together: one breed herds, the other hunts. Yet they share a low stance, a strong character and a big urge to run. The idea came naturally: our family has two of these short-legged hunters, and we love them no less than our corgi. After every Corgi Race Vilnius our relatives kept asking why the dachshunds got less attention and love. We listened. It was their turn to shine, and the day of love was the perfect occasion.
Spectators watched the dogs romp in the central atrium from all three floors of the shopping centre. We welcomed purebred dachshunds of the FCI-recognised varieties: smooth, long and wire-haired, in every size. No expertise needed: what mattered was a good mood and that light, charming chaos only our beloved pets can create.
The race
Dachshunds come in three sizes, so they raced in three classes: rabbit, miniature and standard. Each class ran its own heats and semifinals, and the class winners met in the final of finals.
Champion: Fuksė (standard). Also in the final of finals: Perri (rabbit class), Moka and Colla (miniature class).
Vet check first
Before the start every dachshund passed a vet health check and a dental check. Only then onto the track.
Costume parade
Valentine’s Day called for costumes: a Cupid, a dragon warrior, a sea princess, a mushroom, a little bee and even a dachshund dressed as a hot dog. First place: Moka as „Fungus Militaris“, the same Moka who was one of the fastest in the miniature class. Looking back through the photos, we added a special prize too: „Taksė Raganaitė“, a witch costume matched perfectly by her owner.
Smartest Nose
One minute, a puzzle full of hidden treats. Figo found the most, with Fuksė and Olivia one treat behind. Fuksė, the race champion, made it a double day.
Longest Dachshund
We measured every dachshund in sausages. Irisas won at 6 sausages, or 107 cm. Every dachshund feels like a big dog, but some measured barely three sausages.
